Tony Stewart Wins at Pocono!

Just a few short months ago, I wasn't betting that Tony Stewart would win a race in the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup season. I didn't put him in The Chase in my 2009 NASCAR predictions, and I even put a special note in my predictions as to why Smoke wouldn't make The Chase. Big mistake!
Stewart was the Tony Stewart of old, as he blazed a trail to the finish to win the Pocono 500. It was a masterful job of driving and race strategy, as he stretched the last tank of gas to the checkered flag while others were either stopping for fuel or running out of gas on the last lap.
Stewart now has a 71-point lead in the race for The Chase. Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson slipped a bit further behind while continuing to hold second and third place, respectively. Tony has been sneaking up the points standings early on, but he won't be "sneaking" up on anyone for the remainder of the season. He is a legitimate contender, and he must be considered one of the favorites to win the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship.
Look who else is climbing the ladder of success! The Rocket Man, Ryan Newman, is sitting comfortably in fourth-place in the standings, and rightfully so. Could this possibly be a Stewart-Haas year? It already is, NASCAR fans.
Here comes Carl Edwards! Cousin Carl literally jumped five places in the standings, all the way to sixth-place, with promises of more to come. I believe in Edwards, which is why I picked him to win the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship. He's about to pull off a string of wins that will make us think about his success late last year.
We're getting down to the nitty-gritty, as the saying goes, and it's going to be a real shoot-out. This is the most exciting NASCAR season we've seen for a couple of years, and it's not over yet!
So why didn't Tony Stewart climb the fence after what could have been the biggest, most exciting win of his career? Check back with me on Thursday, because I think I can shed some light on the subject...
