Top Ten NASCAR Drivers, by George

I'm about to give you my list of the top ten NASCAR drivers. Of the 50-plus current drivers in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, this is who I believe are the ten best.
Granted, at any point any driver can be the best on any day, given the right car, and a pit crew that is performing well. And luck, as we witnessed at the Coca-Cola 600, can play a major role in the success of a driver. But what I look for in a top ten driver is consistency. If I were putting together a team of ten drivers, who would I make certain I included on that team?
You pick whoever you want. I'll take these ten guys and beat you every time:
1 Kyle Busch
2 Tony Stewart
3 Jimmie Johnson
4 Carl Edwards
5 Jeff Gordon
6 Matt Kenseth
7 Clint Bowyer
8 Gregg Biffle
9 Kevin Harvick
10 Mark Martin
I debated switching the top two around, but I can't overlook the fact that Kyle Busch seems to be the best man on the track right now, and I believe he will be for some time.
Busch and Stewart have the quality within them that is lacking in most modern day drivers. I used to see this quality in most all of the NASCAR drivers 10+ years ago. That quality is the need to win, the desire to accept nothing else, or you might call it the "killer instinct." These guys do what is necessary to win a race, and will roll the dice to get it done.
I'm sure my list of top ten NASCAR drivers will raise some eyebrows, and may even promote some heated discussions in the world of NASCAR. Send me your thoughts and criticisms, and I'll be happy to post your comments.
Our NASCAR tour group is headed for Dover and the Monster Mile this weekend for some slam-bang NASCAR Sprint Cup racing. Dover is tough on tires, and tough on drivers, and whoever comes out on top there will have worked hard to earn the victory.

It could very well be that I looked too far back when I picked Kevin Harvick. He's the pick that I questioned the most. Many NASCAR fans feel the same way you do about Kyle Busch,(me included), but he's the guy I would want in my car if I needed to win a race. Maturity will come to Kyle Busch just as it did to his brother, but it probably won't arrive for a few years yet. Thanks for your comments!

about the only one I disgree with is Kevin Harvick I like the man dont get me wrong but I think there are a couple of other racers that are better than him right now Jeff Burton and the top ten in points. I do not like K. Busch but you canot argue with his willing to win. B. Johnson Boise, Idaho.
