Roush and Edwards want a Mulligan

Jack Roush thinks each driver in The Chase should be allowed one race that doesn't count in the points standings. Carl Edwards thinks that's a great idea! They both would like to call a "mulligan" for one, or maybe even two, races since The Chase began.
For those of you who are not familiar with the term "mulligan," it's what a golfer calls a bad shot which he doesn't have to count on his score card. It's a "do-over." Since NASCAR can't really provide a "do-over," Roush and Edwards just want to forget about that race. No kidding!
It's obvious why Roush and Edwards would like to use a mulligan, and I bet NASCAR fans can name the race they don't want to count: Carl's 33rd-place finish at Charlotte. So Edwards gets rid of that race, but Jimmie Johnson would have to throw out a ninth-place finish since that has been his worst finish since The Chase started this year. How is that fair?
Of course that still leaves Carl Edwards with a 29th-place finish at Talladega. What was the Roush/Edwards team thinking? They would actually like two mulligans, thank you very much! This would leave the other five races completed in The Chase so far with Edwards finishing no worse than third.
Instead of the mulligan, how about we give Carl Edwards a head start in the last three races since he's had such a tough time of it? We could have two green flags, one for Edwards and one for the rest of the field, maybe two or three laps later. The other 42 cars in the field would have to drive pit road speed until they receive their green flag. And all the other Chase drivers would have to start in the 33rd through 43rd positions.
I bet Jimmie Johnson would still win the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship!

Now Greg Biffle wants to get rid of the Talladega race in The Chase. Jeff Burton says "No!" Burton's right when he says what's fair for one is fair for all. Jeff says, It's just a matter of luck. Burton is right on the money with his thought process. I guess we're going to have to give Biffle the same head start that we're giving Carl Edwards!
